Eggactly

Although my nest has been empty for many years now,  I can't bring myself to halt the holiday traditions.  This year, these are my eggs of solitude. I went through the motions but my heart wasn't in it. I kept it simple using food coloring, vinegar and water. Their vibrancy grew during the time they relaxed in their color baths.

These yummy goodness were next. It's a bit odd, I only make these deviled eggs but twice a year, Easter and Thanksgiving. I tried to find the logic behind that but I couldn't, especially since I love them. I chalk it up to tradition like turkey once a year.  My "secret" ingredient is ranch dressing. These should be extra tasty with the smoked paprika sprinkled on top.

  1. The single colored eggs all gathered like that make a beautiful picture! Also, I am going to put some ranch in my deviled eggs next time I make them. That sounds fantastic!

  2. Ah, I'm allergy to eggs stops me in my tracks, enjoy yours, I will stick to my gram flour alternative, not that it helps with this wonderful sounding recipe... 😊

  3. Your single colored eggs are beautiful! And the deviled eggs with ranch dressing sound delicious. This was a favorite appetizer of my dear mother-in-law. It is hard giving up the old traditions. I made candy filled Easter baskets for my adult kids well into their twenties :)

  5. I have never made deviled eggs. I’m going to have to do that, because I love eating everyone else’s 😊

  6. Eggs of solitude. <3 I get you.

I used to do pysanky but I haven't had the heart since the kids all moved out and doing it alone feels like some kind of defeat or something. Maybe I'll do it next year in a holy rebellion.

    Also, I love deviled eggs.
